Transplant Housing began a few years back when we came across travel nurses as tenants in our short-term rental properties. We had such positive experiences with the nurses that we decided to look deeper into the traveling healthcare industry. When we first started, our main focus was to turn travel nurse’s homes into short-term rentals while they were gone on assignment. It then came to be that we were fielding so many phone calls from recruiters, housing coordinators and travel nurses to find housing in different parts of the country.
Each year hundreds of families travel to Boston from locations all over the world to give their child access to the world’s best medical care. In doing so, they face enormous hurdles such as navigating the complexities of the health care system, extraordinarily high local housing costs, and excessive emotional and physical stress. At the Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor, we remove the stress of daily living and support families to enable them to focus on what really matters: their child’s health and healing.
